Peugeot 605 V6 on ebay

I was intrigued to see this top spec. Peugeot 605, still fitted with the PRV V6 12v in 1997 (200648784146). It makes for interesting comparison with the XM, but does not have quite the same appeal for me at least. I still hope it goes to an enthusiast and does not get 'XMerised' Regards, Matthew T.

Strangely no photos of the engine and mention of whether it works! I wonder if it has the necessary mod, which with the low mileage seems unlikely. Certainly an interesting car though and I hope it is saved. With regards, Matthew T.

Tis a shame the bodywork on the car is scruffy as the interior looks immaculate!

Wonder what it'll fetch.

The last cheap 24v 605 on eBay sold for less then £500 and then reappeared without it's engine a few days later.

David.

So the 24v fetched quite a good price at just over £1,000, which hopefully means it was bought to restore and not for the engine. Not bad at all really given the less than concours condition and lack of an MOT, but then according to 'How Many Are Left' there are only two 24v models in the UK!! Partly by coincidence I have just picked up a copy of Jan P Norbye's book on the Peugeot 605 (Automobilia 1990), which gives some interesting background on the 24v engine not to be found in the XM book of the same series. With regards, Matthew T. PS. the 1994 12v has been twice relisted and currently has two bids up to £210 with four days to run, although the reserve is not yet reached.

Hi Matthew,

What sort of information does it go into that the XM book doesn't?

Regards

David.

Hi David,
The XM book by the same author does not mention the 24v engine at all, presumably because it was published a bit earlier and PSA had not decided and/or announced the option at that point. It appears that the 605 had the 24v from launch. There are some photos and diagrams of the engine and a bit of technical explanation which is all quite interesting and I could copy and post the relevant sections if you like.
With regards,
Matthew T.

Following requests from David H and Rod I attach details on the V6 24v engine from my Peugeot 605 book . As I suspected, the XM book was published in 1989 and the 605 book in 1990. With regards, Matthew T.
