VERY low mileage diesel XM on ebay (23k)

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Why? its been written off with a broken headlamp by the looks of things, Cat C and D cars are exellent value.
You may well own an unrecorded writeoff now and never know, theres no reason at all to be worried about a written off car, i own one.

Amazing how many really low mileage cars have been are showing up lately, both old and new models! A good buy for someone and looks like a fairly easy fix. Regards, Matthew T.

isn't there associated insurance problems with write off's? having said that my xm was involved in bump from the previous owner it had a new wing and bumper i have documented in the service history!

Some insurance companys say they dont insure Q platers but they do, my insurance company said they dont but they have and with no price increase, what you will have to watch is they will not pay out market value if the car is Q plated should you write it off again but then it doesnt really matter at all because you payed nothing for it in the first place.

oh right, well that's put me straight :) so there's nothing to fear from a cat 'c' and 'd' write off.

No nothing to fear from cat C or D, if they were serious faults they are recorded as cat A or B and must never go back on the road. Insurance companies will only insure a cat C or D once its been to a DOT testing station, where the test is more a verification that its the same car not a ringed car rather than a check of roadworthiness. It also needs to have a new MOT even if it still has 11 months of the old MOT to run.

My Frontera spun off black ice into a lamp post a couple of winters ago, very light damage to the bonnet, front bumper and grille, even the headlamps weren't damaged. Insurance gave me the option of having the damage repaired (quoted at £2700 by a body repair shop) or a payout at similar amount (after much negotiating) I opted for the payout and they wrote the car off at cat C. I later bought the car back from the insurance at £350 and managed to buy a bonnet bumper and grille in matching paint code on ebay for £70! Someone also stole the spare wheel when the car was being stored in salvage so the insurance reimbursed me £150 for replacing it (it was a new tyre) and I managed to find an excellent spare wheel and tyre on ebay for £10. So it worked out costing me £280 all in to buy the car back and put on the road. Quids in :)

Car still drives perfectly and is perfectly safe and fully insured, just has cat C on the V5c.

The mother inlaw has written her C3 off twice and we bought it as a writeoff too, she has actualy made about £2000 on the car and its still lovely to drive even though the last time it had a Merc ML drive over the bonnet

The only thing you have to watch is if the car has been badly repaired by someone trying to make a fast profit, but then you run that risk with any car you buy, you can get an exellent car by buying a writeoff 8-)
