Well --- I'm mentioning it here first ----
I am sadly minded to think it's time to move on my 2.5 estate. Green (of course !), Cream leather interior. It has had a considerable amount of work done, but I do have a residual problem with coolant pressurisation and hot running and just can't spend more time having the head off. The car is quite driveable and will do into the hundreds of miles without getting too excited, provding it's not pushed. Once it does get toward or around 100 deg. it doesn't want to come down and eventually, you will wind up having to top it up.The head is a replacement off a known good 2.5, so I have a horrible feeling that when I changed it, I must have very slightly bu*****d the gasket.
That said, the rest of it will make an excellent long term package, having had ------ complete new clutch, abt. 500 miles ago; new cam belt, balance belt, tensioners, aux. belt, water pump belt, water pump, as-new secondary radiator; heater matrix -- all within the last couple of thousand miles. To cure a poor starting problem, I have fitted an electric lift pump -- starting is now pretty instant, hot or cold, but I am not sure if it has sufficient flow capacity if you really cane it. I think, with the exception of one of the rear windows, all the electrics work, as does the air con and sun roof. De-catted exhaust in good order. No evident rust, but a ding low down on one of the back doors. Tailgate need a mounting lug welding for strut fixing. MOT to around April -- no advisories last time.
PLUS !!!!!!!!!! I would really like to shift with it as a package, a reasonably complete same age. same colour 2.5 estate -- non-runner, but winchable onto low trailer, which itself contains the remains of a 2.5 saloon I broke for bits. As I say -- absolutely everything you might want to make a very nice, long term car with a wealth of spares. If you are serious, you will obviously want to come and see it. It's not a desperation sale, so no --- I won't take a couple of hundred for it. Car is in Birmingham; the bitzers in Staffs.
Never sure about all this 'PM' stuff, so if interested, please mail me directly --- onthecutATtiscali.co.uk
