Offered for free XM 2.5 tensioners and idler

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Offered for free XM 2.5 tensioners and idler

Post by endorfin » Thu May 10, 2012 10:24 pm

Came off my 95 2.5 when I had the cambelt and the tensioners and idler replaced as didn't know when they were last done. They all appear to be in great condition with no wear as far as I can see. There are 3 tensioners/idler altogether and two are like the ones on ebay below:

Seems a shame to chuck them in my scrap metal box when they could be of use to someone. Can post for the cost of postage.

What did you reckon to them, to my untrained eye they seemed to be in pretty good nick and the belt didn't look too worn but I could be wrong.

I got it done as I had no history as to when it was last done, you'd think that there would have been some invoices or something like that in the bills but if I go by my own example when I got the belt and tensioners done at 134k I haven't got any evidence that the job has been done, must remember to make a note of it in the service history.

Hi endorfin

Still in the box at the moment.
I hope to find out quite a bit by comparing particularly the belt condition.
I have a set stored away somewhere from a engine that had run to 150k without change.
Then there is a 51k set to recover from one of the long term SORN cars.
Agree with your policy of replace if there is any doubt about age and condition.
Did you replace the balance shaft belt?
It has a much easier life so not so critical to replace.

The kit did have a balance shaft belt, however CMS the Citroen Indy for some reason didn't give me the old balance belt when he gave me the box back containing the old bits. I hope this doesn't mean that it didn't get done.
