A bit bare but here it is on the 'bay for anyone who fancies acquiring a spare...

Saw that a while ago - the guy is selling the PRV 24v auto box off it too....

Many thanks for the post Jim and there are a few other XM items listed by the same seller. I bought the dashboard instrument dials sometime ago from the car!! I would be amazed if they get £200 for the engine in that state! With regards, Matthew T.

That's my point - exactly what engine is it!?
Haven't dwelled on the picture of the engine but it doesn't look very appealing.
I do recall there was another listing for an autobox from it!

With out even wondering if there's an autobox on it then its a 12v NO DOUBTS .. the 24v prvs only ever had a manual box however the engines are visually the same when stripped of its inlet..

So I really believe it is a 12v common as muck lump..

On closer inspection of the image with a zoom there are NO 24v emblems on the front rocker cover.. on the right in the image...

so that's a 12v engine and not sure id want it with the oil filler cap missing...

I have checked my two spare engines and the only difference is the greater height of the 24v rocker covers, so I think it could still be as listed! Regards, Matthew T.

pilsdonautos have listed some interesting spares on ebay over the years BUT it ALL inevitably
always looks like it's been at the bottom of the sea or at least the local river; I'd feel the same
about the filler cap too Paul - how pikey mean can the seller be removing that ffs.

Two spare 24v engines not only suggests a man preparing himself for the worst, but
also that two cars have already been broken!?
