 Yet another one in Glasgow. They must've had a decent dealer years back.

Mind, with no mot or tax it'll struggle past £150 which may be at odds with the
seller's idea of the value. I think the wheels look visually too small for the car
although having it on the high setting doesn't help!

If it had been a bit nearer I might have been tempted. It does look as though its got its trousers rolled up doesn't it. :D

"the car is advertised locally and will not be given away"

Interesting comment in an auction!

Hi Peter

Speaking *almost* seriously, what do u think of the idea of me getting this XM as it's 30mls off my home, repairing the pipe leak, MOTing it, and then exchanging it with your 2.1 hatch on ur next trip to Scotland?

Money would also exchange hands if necessary, but right now I don't know the state of ur hatch and we don't know the state of this estate.

Only proposing in case u'd prefer an estate from a hatch -I'd like a manual diesel 2.1 but don't need an estate, and don't really like them-. Does this estate have the fuel pump u favor?

Can't commit to this today, need to get an insurance quote, u don't even ever have to commit either, but just wanted to know if in principle u fancy the idea?

cheers
G

Yay! :D

I love the lateral thinking regularly displayed by Citroen owners
- must be due to the daily challenges delivered by their vehicles!!
This is more interesting to follow than any rubbish on the goggle box!!

Hi George

Had it been a Mk2 I may well have considered that suggestion, but I'm not to keen on Mk1's . I think that it would be well worth saving though if the body is good and you can get it at the right price, I wouldn't think it would make more than £150.00. Its not a difficult job to drop the rear subframe and fix the leak and it would probably put a couple of hundred quid on its value. I would have had a go at it if it had been nearer. It will have a mechanical pump, probably a Bosch but not guaranteed.

...and, dear Derek, do u consider this an achievement?? They don't know anything nowadays... :(

Picture this anecdote, last Christmas I took my father to our local Citroen agent in Athens, Greece -wanted to show him the C5 as he was looking for a new car-.

The salesman was trying to convince us that the C5 does not use spheres and the "old hydraulic system"!!! Such is the strategy of Citroen: they are ashamed of themselves....WTF?? And what if we had bought a C5? what wouls he have said come first service? "Oh was wrong, this specific version u bought indeed has spheres!!"

Re. this XM, Peter, no probs, I think I'll drop it then...Don't like uncalculated moves, and this would be one. Besides, there are many bidders, so hopefully will go to a good home. I'll wait for that 2.1 manual hatch...if I decide I need it...if it comes...

cheers
