I've been having one or two problems with the injection side of my Peugeot 605 2.1 TD. Basically I need a set of 4 working Lucas CAV injectors as fitted to the early XMs.

I'm not sure whether the ones fitted to the 1.9s or the EPIC can be used in place, Service Citroen reckons they are different part numbers.

Theres a good working Lucas SETUP on the last 2.1 TD I stripped and another set on the SEd thats now stuck half way through stripping.

What was on that engine you used for your XM rebuild??

What problems are you having that isn't curable with the injectors being refurbed?

I have used Lucas injectors with a Bosch pump Kev so I don't see why it wont work in reverse.

OPENING PRESSURES thats why...

I think Bosch injectors have a HIGHER opening pressure then the Lucas, so Lucas injectors will open with a Bosch pump, but I dont think they will the other way...

Quite possibly Paul, it was in a BX and it went like a train with the Bosch pump.

Kev, have you determined the injectors are iffy following the test plan I suggested?

The Lucas injectors and pump were from the engine I used for the XM engine rebuild.

I could get the injectors refurbished but it will cost just shy of £250, I'd like to see if I can get known good second hand before I go splashing out.

I did the glass jar test, not a sausage came out of any of them. Thought that it was either the injectors seized or pump not kicking out enough pressure. I took the injectors to Electrodiesel in Exeter for testing and they said they were all seized.

Excellent Kev, you know you can dismantle them and see if you can free them off? Got to be worth a punt. Likely only gummy old fuel sticking them..

Do one at a time and carefully note any shims you find. These set the pressure at which the injector opens and sprays.

Thats a point. Is there anything to bear in mind when taking them to bits?
