water pump for 1991 3l v6 xm

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

I am fairly sure replacement pumps cannot be obtained, although it might be possible to have the original one rebuilt with news seals etc., which coincidentally I was about to explore myself! Please do let us know how you get on. Regards, Matthew T.

Thanks so much Matthew for your reply,I have tried so many places and purchased one which does not fit,why do you think the replacements cannot be obtained?

Please let me know what you find out about rebuilding the original one,we have removed it and the car is in the garage looking very sad.

Many thanks for your advice Robert and all my cars are just slightly earlier than RP 4990 so that is most helpful!! I really did not think a new pump could be obtained Peter and if you want to post up photos of yours for comparison with mine please do. The problem I have is a leak from the pulley shaft seal. After Robert's tip off I have ordered a new pump from Mister Auto and I shall report further in due course. With regards, Matthew T.

The PRV water pump is what a call an "External Unit" where as it sits as a unit of its own between the banks. SURELY one must be obtainable through Delorean Owners! I Doubt they would NOT let a water pump go NFP for their cars!!

Im lucky in that when I Cleared some parts out from someone when I was functioning a little more responsibly I was lucky to have a PRV Water pump in the stash, and a new one too!

I shall be keeping it as I have a PRV 24v Manual, and a 12v Auto too.. Theres another used one too which I think is fine.

Last time Citroen dealers sold the PRV water pump they were priced at 300 quid! I know this from someone I knew who bought one, and that was about 6 years ago!!!

If the Mister Auto water pump is correct for the vehicle the price of £17.99 seems like a bargain and I had assumed the part was dealer only and therefore NFP. I also have a spare old pump that I will try and get re-conditioned if necessary. With regards, Matthew T.

Hmmm wonder if mr autos pump is for the esj 24v later engine. That uses a smaller sort. I cannot see a prv water pump being 17.99 .. unless its made of plastic!!

After some further research I think there is some mismatch with numbers and the part listed does not appear to be right. Here are links for the Mister Auto webpage and others showing illustrations of the correct pump and BGA pump:
http://www.mister-auto.co.uk/en/water-p ... ter%20pump
http://www.yoyoparts.com/oem/5789541/ci ... 20153.html
http://www.yoyoparts.com/oem/2556039/bga-cp18096.html
It looks like the search continues, but at least there are a number of other manufacturers for the pump, including Quinton Hazell, PEX, Rueville and SKF.
