I need an o/s/f caliper for both my 2.5td estate and my es9 hatch as both are binding. (even with the handbrake cables off)
one is the 283mm disc type and the other is a 288mm disc type.
What have you got?
Cheers

Hi Chris,
It's possible to dismantle and refurbish sticking calipers. Someone (Peter N) I think, was talking about it a while back.
Failing that, this thread might be of some use:

Re: 2 Brake Calipers needed
Very few XM's got the calipers to suit the 288mm discs.
Just those with ES9J engines and 2.5's from somewhere around T reg on.
The 283mm disc calipers are as common as muck.
Most XM's except the very early ones.
The mountings for both are common so 288's can be replaced with 283's as long as discs, pads and calipers are changed.
Both sides would need to be converted.
Noz did a handbrake caliper rebuild and posted on his site.

I imagine that the 288 calipers are the same as a Xantia V6/HDI 110 (they look the same but I have not checked the part number)
1999 XM Exclusive V6 24V ES9 Manual (LHD) 105,000 km
1997 Xantia Exclusive V6 (RHD) 45,000 miles

Have you checked the (XM) scuttle mounted quadrant which operates the doseur valve? Lack of at rest clearance or partial seizure are well known causes of front brake binding.chris570 wrote:I need an o/s/f caliper for both my 2.5td estate and my es9 hatch as both are binding. Unfortunately it's not that. I checked. I was hoping for that though.kenhall wrote:Have you checked the (XM) scuttle mounted quadrant which operates the doseur valve? They are slightly different on the carrier as the threaded section is on the hub on the Xantia but is on the carrier on the XM. But good thinking, I'll have a quick comparisonxantia_v6 wrote:I imagine that the 288 calipers are the same as a Xantia V6/HDI 110 (they look the same but I have not checked the part number)

Ok, so who can help out with the common 283mm caliper then, cheers
