115k, new cylinder head gasket, clutch, heater matrix, front drivers side strut top (brand new), new glow plugs, wiper blades and light bulbs. Apart from a couple of small dings and a patch on the bonnet the car is in good condition, having been detailed by Vince. Whole load of other stuff done sorting out minor electrical glitches and the usual irritants. New Goodyear all season tyres on each wheel. The underside was welded by Paul and by a local garage and has been fully waxoyled. New towbar recently fitted and a new rear plate made up just today.

I took it back on Sunday from a friend who has looked after it well for a few months, using Malcolm at Savoy for a lot of work including the strut top. Since then the brake warning light comes on when I indicate at night, and today the drivers window has decided to get stuck and is out of the runners. I have no time or desire to spend my life sorting the car, it has been one thing after another and I am tired of garage bills.

I will sell it for £500 to the first person who can collect it from me within a week, otherwise I will strip it of useful things and it will be scrapped. Tax and MOT expire end November. The stereo and speakers will not be in the price of the car. I will not advertise it on car and classic for another two days. It is close to reserve on fuel.

Someone had better save this car otherwise IM OUT!

I understand your position Charles, but with all the work, effort parts I put into the car sure its not something which can be just thrown away. This WILL be the second time this has happend.

If there was a bit more time, id try my damm best to find the money to have this car back! Dont really want to see it go to waste.

Totting up all the money spent since buying it is close to £2000, plus the purchase price. Unlike my other XM the bodywork has no rust nasties lurking underneath, the engine and transmission are in exceptional nick, interior and bodywork good. I hope this is a no-brainer price for someone.

With an open window it is a theft risk so has to be put on the drive in a place that makes access to my garage and other cars awkward, and with another classic to return next week plus another wreck, this has to go before I lose all sanity.

If Robs SED hadn't come my way when it did, I would have snapped this up like a shot. Sorry Charles, that doesn't help you really, but I hope it does go to a new home and not get scrapped. Surely it is far to good for that, the work Paul and you have done on it, it deserves to live. Shameless plea there!!!!

Should find a home at that price - no major nasties and sounds like a twin to mine, but with half the mileage of mine!

Don't have space for another car at the moment, but was wondering if this was manual or auto? I know a couple of friends who're looking for XM's so will put them onto this.

it is one a regret selling. The work I did is well documented on this fourm too!!

As Paul says, manual. Having had an auto 2.1 there is no comparison - the manual really does make it so much more capable a car.

Charles i understand your predicament but please don't scrap it! Not yet...

This is such a nice car and the paintwork came out immaculate!
