Hi, after years of BX ownership I have decided to look for a XM, I am looking for a manual diesel, prefer an estate but not fussed, must be in a good condtion.

There are very few about, keep your eyes on ebay, that's the most likely place to get one at a reasonable price. I have one but I am thinking about putting it back on the road and its not in that brilliant a condition. If you want a really nice one you could be talking in the £1000s.

Thanks Pete, it doesn't have to be mint, but in good condition, i will be using it as an everyday vehicle.

Having not been in either of mine for about a month, I took one out today...I loved it. A bit more torque and a quicker steering rack wouldn't go amiss, but on the whole, very enjoyable.

Manual Diesel...

If you REALLY want manual, best seek out a 2.5 .. as these are all manual. Most 2.1s - actually alomost ALL of them are autos!

Though this is ok, it does take a bit out of the economy being the older Mechanical Auto box and robs the engine of a bit of power.

Estates a bit harder to find, more hatch's about.. But the thing to do is go on condition! Good ones will be good money now, as they are becomming harder to find.

I dont normaly recommend 2.5s, they tend to be a bit more complex, the rads are expensive and getting hard to find, and theres a few unique items specific to them compared to other models in the range. However, those who have them love them..

You could always go to the Last Chance Saloon.

Not sure what happens if no-one buys it now...I suspect it explodes.
