FFS, If I hear another scrappage scheme ebay ad...

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

This was back in 94ish and pre Internet so was advertised through an ad in the Citroenian when I was still an
avid member and show visitor slowly amassing a varied collection of crocked old Cits! The seller was an Ozzie
called Alan Brown who specialised in 2CV's being a real addict himself and he'd managed to build up a rapport
with the local scrapyards who knew he was a good guy to deal with and offered him anything worth saving,
even in their scrappage scheme.

I went down to just south of Nantes in my father's absolutely fabulous DTR T2 Safari and made contact and
agreed to buy x2 cars (I was a hopeless case even back then!). I returned a while later with my CX GTi turbo
and trailer to bring one back with the second delivered by Alan to Frome 2CV for my collection as he had an
arrangement to sell old 2CV's to sustain their business demand.

Neither had a single ounce of underseal on them from new being bare body coloured paint! On the homeward
bound leg I stayed over on the normany coast by Bayeux at a farm used to stop over with the 2CV's where I
could drool over a mint early ripple bonnet 2CV. The whole trip is still imprinted as one of my best holidays!

Old citroen buying in France has to be tried!! :D
