Is it the part to help hold the door open??

Apologies if I caused confusion by saying the latch striker.
I have seen Degens white car, which requires the drivers door to be slammed when closing. The reason is the plastic insert in the striker plate is worn out/broken, so the cam latch fails to throw over far enough, until the door is further in the door shut.

So what does it need a door lock? I'm a bit lost at strikers and latches etc...

TBH, I'm not quite sure what the request is for, whether it's the striker plate, or the check strap, as Degens mentions the hinge.

Having seen the car, I already know it does need a drivers door striker plate...the stamped metal piece mounted on the door jamb that the door latch clips into when closing the door.
Today request may be for something different.

Either an accurate description, or a picture of the required part, would be very useful.

Ahhh.. i have recovered some of those.. but not many.. off the b pillar..

All four are the same, obviously the drivers door is the one that is likely to wear out.

Dear Dieselman and Citroenxm, it is the oval part that is on the frame of the car. I had hoped to attach a picture, but somehow it did not appear. The 'pin' from the door is going through the opening in that grey metal oval thing (I hope you get wat I mean). The oval, held in place with two bolts, is broken in two and slowly the lack of it is causing a dent in the frame.

I think it is the striker plate, indeed driver side front.

Dieselman, you suggestion during one of the events sorted the problem with closing the door; but that was where the lock is. This is where the door is turning, so at the hinge site. I wish I could attach a picture..... There was an option, and I uploaded the file, but it seems not to have appeared. So, thinking about it, the striker plate is something different it seems from what I seek. Happy to mail a picture; my e-mail address is: hans.degens@btinternet.com
