Reluctantly, I'm putting my XM up for sale.

135k miles, cambelt last year, rear spheres last year (and all other spheres checked for pressure), has had welding to a high standard to front floor strengtheners, sills and front inner wheelarch on the nearside. Everything works, sunroof cassette replaced due to leaks, serviced 9000 miles ago, front end brake overhaul this year. I've even fitted new numberplates.

I've covered 18,000 miles in it over the past 16 months and it's been great. Comes with a set of Continental winter tyres fitted, and a spare set of rims. MOT 28 January 2017.

All this work, she looks great. REALLY struggling with concept of getting rid of such a lovely XM rather than getting shot of a Honda!!!!!!

Good luck.

...........a honda with a poorly gearbox and no 2.2 unicorn farts equiped engine.

I get the impression being a motoring journalist makes you a bit of an automotive butterfly, this one has done a fair turn of service though, best of luck with the sale sir.

Thanks chaps. An automotive butterfly is a good way to describe me! It's a credit to the XM that it has managed to remain with me for 16 months. Most cars struggle to last three. There comes a stage when I don't like putting such heavy use on a car though. If I can find an enthusiastic home for it, I'll be very happy.

As for the Honda, having covered 700 miles in it this week, I think it's safe (ha!) to say that the gearbox is absolutely fine.

Is this the Prelude with the cool lit up full width dash? Interesting. Nice looking look car those.

Best of luck selling the XM. I keep looking at it think this might make a good 2017 challenge vehicle!

It is a nice motor. It is also for sale. I need one to go, so I'm leaving the XM's future in the lap of the gods. Though I think I have a buyer for my XM - an enthusiast. Things have got a bit complicated as some twat has bashed into the XM he already has.

The XM has earned itself a stay of execution, as I may soon need its towing abilities. And comfort. The Prelude still has to go though!

The Prelude did go, but the XM now needs to follow. 18,000 happy miles now, but my fleet is getting a bit out of control. Time to go.

135,000 miles, still on hydraflush but hope to get back on LHM soon (currently don't have enough LHM!). Still drives well, cosmetically not perfect but better now than it was I think.

£695ono.
