1997 Citroen XM V6 Exclusive Auto – For Sale

Post by ragger » Sat Feb 27, 2016 9:39 pm

MOT due 29th January 2017 15400miles Location: Darlington

It is a series 2, hydractive 24 valve V6 of 2946cc with auto adaptive gearbox. The most unusual feature of this car is that it does not have a sun roof; therefore, there are no leaks, but a couple of inches of extra head room instead.

All the expected top of the range toys are present and working, the only exception being the heated seats. Additionally this car is fitted with a 6 CD multi changer controlled from the leather steering wheel. It has a full black leather interior and carpets are protected by Citroen rubber mats.

The car has been looked after over the years, with lots of evidence to support this in service records and invoices. Over the last few months, I have spent well in excess of the asking price on the following:
Replacement of all front to rear hydraulic pipes
Replacement of all four rear spheres.
Replacement of accumulator and front anti-sink spheres
Replacement of regulator
Repairs to exhaust system and both front jacking points to a high standard
Replacement of radiator
New battery

Additionally, an oil and filter change was carried out while the car was being prepared for January’s MOT. The ATF was renewed at its previous service in Nov 2014.

While this car is not currently a show winner, it is more than presentable and certainly serviceable. In my ownership, most of its miles have been clocked up travelling between Darlington and Gloucestershire and I have owned no better long distance cruiser.

I am asking £1400.

I am impressed by the ZX - in its own way - but I was very nearly seduced by a different V6 that was for sale...

Here are a few more pictures that I took today - I forgot to mention that the car was fitted with reconditioned strut tops in 2014.

I was sorry to hear that you are selling up Rob and this could be the car for Dave (the Rave) and especially being the same colour as the recently dismantled 2.1! Regards, Matthew T.

Good to hear from you, Matthew.

Far from convinced that I will sell, especially as the car I had my eye on as a replacement escaped me.

If I didn't have my red V6 I'd be seriously interested in this. It seems like a bargain given that an (admittedly very nice looking) one went for £4,850.00 on eBay last night.

It does look like my perfect car! Not sure the wife would let me get way with another one until the Cx is finished though!

Well, having side-stepped the rush of interest in the XM, I shall continue to enjoy it for the forseeable future. :D

To be honest, I couldn't afford anything that would even begin to come close to it, so, whilst it would probably sell if I gave it time, I have decided to stick with what I know and love.
