Now sold: XM 3 litre 24 valve Exclusive £500
Thanks for the interest, the car is sold now and going to a home where she will be pampered and spoiled. Great result, and with a bit of tlc she should last a long time.
Looking to re-home my W reg 3 litre 24 valve black XM Exclusive. Love it dearly, but with a move to the continent planned, Common sense dictates that I need to get a LHD.
I have driven this car for around 25,000 miles using it for daily commuting to work over the last 2 years with very few problems. It drove and handled very well until developing an intermittent rear end suspension fault, usually on rough pot-holed roads (we seem to have a lot of those). Even with this it is usable since it either sorts itself out, or clears the fault if the car is re-started, and it is still being used every day. MOT runs until 26th August.
I really don’t have the knowledge or equipment to fix it myself, and local garages don't seem to know how to treat these cars properly. It would be nice for someone who wants a car as a bit of a project to have some fun with. Asking for £500. Car is in Fife, Scotland.
Good Points:
Nice combination of black paintwork with black leather interior and heated seats
MOT until 26th August 2016
Quite good condition for its age. There are a few stone chips etc., plus a light coloured mark on the corner of the rear bumper (see picture). There are also a few signs of wear on the front seats, but nothing major (see pictures).
Stainless steel exhaust from catalytic converter to tail pipe. Cat replaced August 2014.
New radiator, refurbished master brake cylinder, new front brake pads and most of the hydraulic pipes replaced with stainless steel in August 2015
Working sun roof
Alloy wheels
Radio and 6 CD changer.
Bad Points:
Intermittent speedometer (common XM fault!). Currently reads just over 127.5K, but estimate mileage closer to 150K.
ABS warning light illuminated (another common XM fault)
Airbag light sometimes flashes
Intermittent suspension fault giving very firm ride. Sometimes clears itself, otherwise clears when engine re-started.
Small leak in driver's footwell
Small leak (a few drops) from sunroof switches during prolonged heavy rain.
Driver's window cable snapped (motor still works)
One rear window not working.
Air con not working, probably needs re-gassing.

Hi all, saw this car being driven each day whilst working down at Fife Ness last year, even drove onto the estate to have a better look at it. I was impressed ,and noted it in " Spotted " at the time.

I didn't know there was another XM enthusiast in Fife, even temporarily! You should have popped in for a chat. Hubby will be gutted to hear the XM was noticed but not his nice little Mercedes. It's very cute but for once an XM is the more practical and sensible option. Not often you see those words applied to a Citroen!
