Window regulator needed.

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

The three types were:-

2 pin motor used 1994 to 2000 on SX models only. This part interchangable with MK 1 part.
9 pin motor (Citroen thin wire clip) used 1994 to early 1996 on VSX and Exclusives.
9 pin motor (Peugeot red slide clip) used late 1996 to 2000 on VSX and Exclusives.
I have searched most PSA models recovering a number of drivers winders.
Never found any usable spares for the XM 9 pin winders.

I guess the only way round that is to use an earlyer winder and swap the loom in the door too..

Hi Paul

If you go trying loom swapping it is not as easy as it seems.
I got caught out when I tried to swap looms between the 9 pin motor types.
Took an early 9 pin winder and loom to a late car.
When I undid the door wiring plug I found that Citroen had swapped pins for sockets when they changed the 9 pin winder design.
So I had to strip both motors down and swap the cases to get the correct 9 pin connector.

The 9 pin setup adds anti-pinch to the winder.
It also incorporates one touch controls onto the winder pcb.

If you are willing to forego anti-pinch then there is the option of fitting a Mk 1 style winder and one touch control box.
That just needs a bit of Mk 1 loom grafted into the existing door loom.

If you are willing to forego one touch as well then grafting in a simple switch Mk 1 style winder is even easier.

I will look out a Mk2 drivers frame and see if putting a 2 pin motor on it is also an easy option.

I expect us to have to use those last two options when we run out of servicable and repairable 9 pin winders.

The reason these XM multi pin bits are not found in other PSA cars is that that type of design became a "blind alley".

Multiplex 2 wire control was applied to a select number of XM batches, 2.1's in 1994 and 2.5's in later years (none RHD).
It worked so well that it rapidly became the PSA standard for all new designs.

John.. What about series two Xantia window units from 1998 S reg, these also used on board anti pinch and one touch. I assume the cable frame will be different but the motor might donate. Its a pity they are single construction..

I notice in the newest 2008 omwards C5 X7 models the window winder motors have finally become detachable from the cable and guide frames .. Obviously expecting motors to die the issue are cables rot through first on passenger sides..

Anyway. Thats a future issue for many of us..

I am looking for a rear-right window regulator for S2 XM, year 1996. A 2-pin motor.
If there are wire harnesses also, that will be great - I am swapping manual winders with electric ones. Unfortunately, Citroen hasn't left any wires with connectors in rear doors.

The centre console harness thats under the centre unit is different between electric and non electric windows its connected behind the head units. The difference is to also have the plugs for the centre console mounted switches for the rear.windows which it then extends to the rear B pillars to carry power to the rear doors ... so its fairly involved.
