Good points
All chrome is either new or nearly new - no 'blooming' or weathering
Bumpers front and rear are fairly new and the correct Mark 1 types
Headlamps, taillamps, indicators, fog lamps, tail blazer and all badges were brand new a few years ago
Wheels were new in 2000/2001 and replaced the originals which were a bit scabby - these were 175 GBP each
Nothing missing - even the jacking point covers are present
Genuine Citroen XM rubber mats fitted
Original glass, including windscreen
Air con works but only at about 75%
All electrics - windows and sunroof - are working
Boot full of spares - lights, starter motor, switches, aerial etc
Leather is as new with no cracking or stiffness.
Sills are solid as these have been regularly pumped with fresh, not used, engine oil from new. Hence car has never needed welding.
Car garaged off road long term in my heated, dehumidifier garages from 2001 to 2014 but exercised and serviced regularly
Manifold gaskets replaced three months ago
Serviced by myself 6 months ago
Cambelt changed less than 2000 miles ago (but in 2005) so needs doing again, I guess.
New wiper blades front and rear
Great to drive - no wobbling or silly noises, cruises beautifully. Test driven by me 160 miles last week and it is as good as any anywhere. Kept up with the traffic and surprised me with its abilities.
All instrument bulbs replaced by me last month
Speedo wobbles a bit, not much, at lower speeds and is rock steady at higher speeds.
All recalls that were needed were carried out by Citroen
Bad points
Glovebox catch broken - this was replaced several times by the dealer and is a weak point. Glovebox still secure and can be opened.
Cambelt change due
Bonnet has some minor stone chips but I have resisted a respray to keep car original
Rear washer blocked
Clock and outside temp gauge work but the readout is a bit dim
A few, to be expected, tiny dings in the doors due to other car drivers careless door opening. Hardly worth mentioning but they are there if you look closely
Manufacturers warranty expired over 20 years ago!
There is no radio fitted as I don't like them. However, the original radio and a spare are in the boot if the new owner wants to refit. All wiring is standard, no aftermarket radios have ever been fitted.
MoT April 2017, original plate K39 EYM will be on the car when sold.
I haven't a clue what to ask for this car...but it is original, never welded or repainted (apart from the bumpers) and is fully working and useable. Price will be sympathetic in view of the need for a precautionary cambelt change. Oh, and I may be able to deliver it as I am still able to drive.
