Good evening all, So after years i have found my first ever xm 2000 v6 exclusive, auto 67k with full history and one owner. supplied by our local Citroen dealer. All this for 20 gbp and a good will gesture of a bottle of bulmers. I am in love. I am after some parts so signed up on here as i also like to help with issues if i can.
Now for the parts....
front drivers electric window regulator as wires are broken
passenger side and o/s/r one don't work either (any suggestions)
Also my heater dose not work. I put a new resistor on the blower/fan but nothing. Its got air con and its all digital. There is no power to the board (heater panel)
The car is near perfect condition so would love to find a place that sells the chrome trim that sits around the bumpers and door moulding. This would make me more happy.
I would love to buy 4 spheres. Are the ones on ebay any good, Pair for 60 gbp
Other than that i think thats the list done.
Any help from you xm friends would be greatful.
Stay happy and keep smiling
Thank you in advance
Jon

Hi Jon
Welcome to the forum and i hope your enjoying your new toy.
window reg cables can be replaced using a kit from somewhere (someone else here will know) that uses stainless steel cable which will last.
The heater issue will be the fuse holder (small one in front of the battery) which has got toasty contacts, you will need to bypass the fuse as the contacts arent up to the job of moving the required raisins
Chrome trim for the sides of the car is available in stainless steel which again lasts and i think i guy called Brian primmer sells them, someone will have contact details but front and rear bumper ones are tough to find and expensive as hell when you do as they are no longer produced and not catered for with aftermarket parts either.
Sphere are mostly OK but i prefer IFHS or Monroe, i kind of got fed up with Amtec spheres after having new ones arrive with incorrect pressures, you could have yours regassed of course if they have not gone too flat.

Ho Jon,
PM sent about some parts.
I would recommend the IFHS spheres. I have fitted Mr Primmer's stainless steel trims to my car and been very pleased with the results.
Welcome to the forum.
It would be great to meet up some time.
Rob

Hi Dean, I am over the moon with it.
Cables - thanks mate. Ill wait for someone to say something or ill post a list just for them.
heater - Yeah I did take a look at them when going through it at my garage. So, shall I cut the wires off the bottom of the fuse holder and solder them together or solder a bigger holder in and replace it with a bigger fuse?
trims - tbh dean I only have the two on the front wings and the corner edges of the bumpers. Are they a good match to the originals ? How much on average for the bumper trims ?
sphere's - car was sat for 5 years. lazy to go up and rides harder then I remember any Citroen we had in the family (handful's of bx's and xantia) Its only done 67k and look like new, Although I know that don't determine if they are weak or not. Do you know who can re-gass them. Would love to keep them original and recycle rather then dump, makes no sense.
Thanks Dean
Jon

You can't go wrong with AEP Direct for spheres, there is a 'how to' guide on here if you're changing them yourself. Don't forget to replace the LHM if the car has been sat for 5 years.

With non working windows work out if the problem is mechanical or electrical first.
Look for dropped glass, wedges or tape holding the glass up as this shows drive wires broken.
You can get repair kits from ebay (will add details later) but the quickest fix is a secondhand winder.
I have a few recovered ones and can supply details of the fitting.
For the electrical side all but the drivers window are driven by simple 2 wire motors.
All these three windows have a chain two switch control so that both driver and passenger can operate them.
The rears also have a child isolation switch.
The switch contacts oxidise over time and are a more common problem than the motor wires.
Cleaning and regular use quite often fixes them
Problems with these are best checked by testing electrically at the switch nearest the suspect window.
With the switch removed the plug can be checked for voltage.
If volts and earth are present check with a spare known good switch.
The drivers window motor is a bit more complex on your XM so will come back to that.

e-crofting used to sell window wire kits, but a pedal cycle cable would work just as well.
Chevronics have some bumper trims in stock, but not cheap.
Your car sounds like a real bargain.
