2.5 prestige on gumtree

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

A Prestige is a limited edition, run out Series 1, based on a 2.0i base model with leather seats added.
An Exclusive is a top line Series 2 model.

Your Manual gearbox choice is going to limit available cars. Most later Series 1 and nearly all Series 2, except the 2.5TD, were sold in auto form as it was a no cost option.

Does the 2.5TD prestige hatchback have the same raditaor as the Mk2 estate?
There seem to be quite a few rads about.

All XM 2.5 TD's use the same two radiator set up.
There is a main large radiator with a smaller half depth radiator clipped and bolted to the front.
These both sell for around £100 each these days.
You have to partially disassemble to see the small rad.
If your 2.5 has aircon that rad will be clipped in front of the other two.
Rad swapping is a work of art and profanity until you have got your first set back in without destroying one of the new ones.
A lot of the Ebay stock seems to be NRF manufacture.
A while ago there were reports on here that these were very poor quality.
The Spanish made ones supplied as dealer replacements had a history of short life.
Avoided them for a good few years so no idea if they remain available.
If my stock ran out I would try and get Nissens.
Part numbers are:
61308 large current best price £89.
61209 small current best price £96.
This all assumes the sellers have real stock on hand or identified.
Unfortunately many advertisers these days list catalogue items on block and check wholesale availability after they take orders.

Oh i see, i can only just see the small rad wedged in front, i'm assuming this is for cooling the LHM? I'm looking at getting a replacement as i'm 90% sure the small one is leaking and have found one made by AVA going cheap, any idea if AVA are any good?

No not LHM.
Both those rads are coolant water circuit items.
AVA is not known to me.
If it is the correct type and cheap I would go for it.

Very helpful flow diagram, did citroen just opt to not cool the LHM then? Surely it must get some heat if it's bypassing?
After reading some posts on here, i'm going to blank off the oil cooler supply lines and remove the oil cooler from circuit.

The LHM does not really get hot, warm maybe but it certainly stays within the fluids operating temperature, i would hazard a guess that a lot of the heating of the fluid is due to the engine bay temperatures.

The LHM is moving round a good bit of the car's underside, so gets an amount of cooling from that. As Dean says, it never gets more than warm.

Good idea to head off oil-cooler failure; the flow diag shows that blanking off its water pipes will just oblige all water to pass through the radiators, rather than to partially by-pass them.

Just taking the oil cooler out of circuit is something I do not recommend.
If the cooler is retained in place its inlet and outlet pipes need sealing off.
If it fails with the pipes open then oil pumps out everywhere.
If replaced by a steel cooler then get the matching correct length centre tube for oil filter mounting.
If oil filter is mounted direct then a special centre tube will be needed.
