2000 V6 for sale (currently sickly).

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

2000 V6 for sale (currently sickly).

Post by eifion » Mon May 14, 2018 9:20 pm

My V6 XM has been off the road since it overheated a year or so ago. The garage owner suspects that it has head gasket failure and so, regretfully, I'm going to try to sell it. It's currently located in at a garage near Chester, though it will be coming back to North Wales soon if I don't find a buyer soon.

In short, it's a 2000 W-reg V6 XM with 170,000ish miles on the clock, with a black leather interor. It went to the garage after I had a problem with the alternator (the hydraulic pump was dripping LHM onto it), and overheated on the way. The alternator and hydraulic pump has been fixed, but obviously the car can't be moved very far in its current state.

If anyone's interested please PM me for further details or with any questions. The car is obviously a spares-or-repairs, but I think it's worth saving.

I think that it might be worth posting your ad also on FCF, as I suspect that there may be a member there who would like this project.

BTW, an engine transplant is probably the best way to fix this, as ES9J4 engines are plentifully available in good condition form Peugeot 406s.

Also, advise to pass on to anyone who does decide to fix it, is to splt the transmission and replace the oil filter, which should make the transmission good for another 100,000 miles.

Thanks for the advice. I'm a member of FCF so I should have thought about posting it on there as well.

I'd take £450 for it as it stands. I'll be taking some more photos of it tomorrow and will post them here so that people can get a better idea of the state that it's in.

That sounds like a very fair price almost regardless of the condition and good luck with the sale. Hopefully it will be repaired and not broken. Regards, Matthew T.

I went to the garage where the XM is today and took some pictures. It's still looking OK, started without any problems and obligingly say with the suspension in 'high' while I took photos of it. I'd forgotten how nice the V6 engine noise sounds and it was looking good in the sunlight.
