Series 1 V6 Manual project

Seeing the interest in the EBay V6.
I have the details of a genuine Series 1 manual XM. It is a 12 valve car, Alpine White with black leather interior. The car is currently very much a ‘barn find’ in that it is currently in a barn!
It is dry, solid and intact but will require a good deal of recommissioning after many years of storage. I have visited and photographed the car. The seller is not asking silly money as his prime concern is that the car gets a good owner who can return the car to its glory.
Unfortunately I have already spent two months negotiating a deal with a buyer who then went quiet at the last possible moment.
If you are seriously interested in taking on this rare and desirable car then please message me for further details.
The car is located in Wiltshire near me.

I am involved because the seller doesn’t want to put the car on the general market. I am not taking a cut or have any personal involvement above seeing a rare car returned to the road.

Afternoon Rob

I do hope you are keeping well and may i ask, are you not interested in taking this one on? i'm sure it would find no better home........

This alone should at least double the book value?

That is exciting news Rob and yet another early car appears and a V6 12v manual to boot! Although I am unable to re-home another XM I would interested to see further details including photos and happy to assist the eventual new owner with advice and parts if required! The car definitely needs to be saved and the model is now so rare. With regards, Matthew T.

Dean, part of me would love to give it a good home. It would look lovely next to my other Alpine White XM!

Unfortunately I barely have enough time to look after my current baby plus there is the small matter of my marriage to think about, oh and storage..........

She is a proper barn find true enough but the current owner is not a greedy man and just wants her to find a good home. She will need a lot of TLC to bring her back to her former glory. Not bodywork which is excellent bar a small ding in the FNS wing. But the under bonnet area is a sea of vermin chewed insulation so I fully expect there to be further damage to wiring and hoses. At the moment it is impossible to tell but I wouldn't want to try strapping a battery on to it!

The interior is lovely and unmarked.

If I were to nominate a new owner a certain Norfolk man comes to mind.

Matthew, get rid of the German imposter and free up a bit of space for a proper UK car!

Half of me wants it just to bring back to life, would be a fun project but unfortunately i cannot, i am currently on the hunt for a Talbot 1300p style coachbuilt camper that i have clearance from the wife to go after and with a new arrival on the way and possible big changes on the cards at work it's a no go.

sounds like it would be fun to do though.

Yes Paul do take her one and if anyone can resurrect the car it is you!! The only reservation is that white might not be your ideal colour, given an occasional reluctance to clean!! With regards, Matthew T.

First and foremost congratulations to Rob and Dean on their forthcoming happy events!

That is very kind Rob and I slightly wish I could take it on, although there is no comparison really with the 24v, even with the left-hand drive, plus I already have four rhd including a 12v manual!
With regards,
Matthew T.
