Series 1 V6 Manual project

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

I believe Rob is already married Matthew, however, he may not be if he buys a second XM!

We shall be multiplying here shortly though, a girl who should be arriving dangerously close to Christmas.

I am sorry that I misinterpreted Rob's remarks and by 'baby' I guess he means his current XM! Anyway many congratulations to Dean and at least I got that bit right! With regards, Matthew T.

im very interested in this (even if rob has yet to get back to me via PM)
but its been sugested quite understandably that wireing piping belts etc may very well be damadged as well as all the engine bay insulation are these still obtainable

another question i went to see the 2 litre turbo currently on ebay the seller claimed (who also owns a DS) claimed that suspension was working corectly and had 4 new spheres and although the ride was very nice i wouldnt say it was a game changer which was what i was expecting after hearing people harp on and on about Citroen hydrolic suspension
was i expecting too much or was it working not quite right on this car even if it diddnt feel hard or jolty at either end when going over speed bumps
as the ride i keep hearing about is one of the main reasons to want an XM i want to know what to expect from a corectly working car
thanks

As you're in Norwich, if you make contact with Matthew (MTXM, Aylsham) - who has a few XMs (see post above) - he might be able to provide you with a sample ride!

Yes do get in touch as I live at nearby Aylsham and also have several V6! If only four spheres have been changed that might explain why the ride seemed underwhelming. As has been mentioned in other recent thread the two centre spheres give the real softness and often get overlooked. With regards, Matthew T.

I agree with Matthew.

The 'extra' central spheres make all the difference to the ride and are usually neglected because they are out of sight under the car.

Sageman, i hope that by now you have received all my messages and photos of the car in question.

Yep, Softness comes courtesy of the centre spheres. The corners only provide Firm.
When the car is running in Firm mode, it's only using the corner spheres.
When running in Soft, centres and corners are working together.

Agree with Rob: all too easy to see the four very visible wheel spheres, and assume they must be responsible for the car's comfortable (or otherwise) ride. Sometimes non-Citroen workshops need nudging in the right direction with this. (One day, even main Citroen service centres might need reminding what's what!)

Dean, congratulations.

As a man with a 22 year old daughter I can safely say the first 22 years are the worst!!!!

As a happily married man for 26 years I can recognise that another XM may be ill-advised! A nice convertible would probably be acceptable but Citroen Luxobarges need to be constrained (unlike some others on this forum!)

Dean, the engine that you generously sold me has now been successfully transplanted into an XM in Scotland and the car is now back on the road. Another one saved. The new owner says she runs perfectly which should come as no surprise but is good to know.

   only the first 22years eh, I was under the impression given by my first one it was only the first 6 that were the bad ones, too much sleep is bad for you anyway i hear.

I am glad that engine as found it's way into another XM, it was a real peach, my other spare engine has made its way into a Peugeot 305 track day car i believe.

Any chance of some photo's of this V6 for people who are not really in a position to buy it but are incredibly nosey?
