If this is as good as it looks i think the seller has just sold themselves short, it has the feel of a good car with a bad advert.

A bit of a project though. It has been off the road 10 years and has no MOT.

It says in the listing it came off the road in December, or tax ran out in December... do you think they tried to recommission after a lay up and decided to part ways?

I think it went off the road in December 9 years ago. No sniff of an MOT since then.
Given the milege the amount of MOT failures for corroded pipes is interesting.

Bush telegraph suggests there is a stash being disposed of in that area.
If I have it right then a number of XM's were stored in a barn for the last 10 years or so by a collector.
Sadly the barn is on the route line of HS2 so he has now given up.

........So, they will compulsary purchase his barn, it will sit empty for 3 years at which point they will cancel the project but not until spending 10bn in feasability studies, land purchase and preliminary works has taken place.

I managed to get the rp number from the seller. 4777. 7th Dec 1989. It's an early one alright.
From what I can gather, he doesn't know much about XM.
