Bits and bobs

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Hi Will

As I understand apart from the pipe thread size strut heads have identical geometry.

The change is effected at the bottom end.
Details are given:-
Section 7 of the workshop manual (book 058932) sheets XM 410-00/1 page 2.
This shows the plate markings on the alloy baseplate.
Difference is by plate casting angle.
Non hydractive plates are marked with a number 4 on the top of the plate.
Hydractive are marked with a number 1 on the top of the plate.
The plate holds the roll bar at the rear and the back end of the wishbone at its front.
The cast steel wishbone top clamp has a matching angle and similar marking.

Sorry no scanning facilities at present.

John
Got it!
I know the yolk you mean and have two that need the bolt drilling out, so will check the markings.

Note: Both ones I have where the bolt is so seized in that it snapped the head off rather than turn, are the drivers side (UK). This is because there is no protection from oil spill from the LHM tank and gearbox.
Do not try to drive the bolt out, or pry the yolk as being an alloy casting, it will snap.

Hello Dave, What sort of money are you wanting for two decent strut tops to fit a Series II 2.0tct 1997? How do you tell if the gaiter is the larger diameter one? May need these ae well.

Ian- both of my decent strut tops have gone I do have strut rams/ gaitors left though.

Fredgeepm - here are some pics of calipers

Also a few pics of other bits that are left- John you mentioned locks- not sure if glove box ones are any good.

Glovebox is a mk 2 no airbag variant and the strut ram on it is full of beans.
Armrest is leather and bit next to it is motor for electric version may be useful if you want to convert to electric armrest.
