I see that my wipers are getting very slow, then just stopping altogether. Checked the blade arm attachments and they seem fine, as do the spindles. Suspect the motor is dying, seems to correspond with other people's experiences!

If anyone has a good working one they can post out please let me know.

Might be worth opening up the motor and looking at brushes and lubrication.

Quite possibly- the issue came upon me quite suddenly and with an MOT looming, I thought of the easy option.
Are the carbon brushes easy to replace and is there a source for them?

I think John has opened up one of these, and posted some details.
There are companies on the web that specialise in motor bushes; dimensions needed. If over-long, they are easily shortened; just the cross-section that needs to be correct.
Apologies for lack of detail - not a job I've had to do on this car yet.

No worries Chris- I think that another reason i was thinking of direct replacement is that with a 4 month old daughter, time is in short supply!
I'll have a search on here.

Thanks
Rohan

Never did find any other car that used the same wiper motor.
Picasso one would physically fit but gearbox was different.
I tried but did not manage to swap gearboxes between them.
In the end I found a recovered XM one to use.

Might be worth checking the harness extension plug connector over the passenger side of the scuttle area.the harness is simply push plugged extended to the drivers side. I've had a corroded connection on the light resulting I'm no wipers. Also check the condition of the useless water proof bag that sits over the motor. Prone to tearing and letting water onto the motor and rotting the motor body..

Paul, I have some movement- it just slows and dies after say, 10 sweeps. Made me think it wasn't electrically-related. I will try and follow your suggestion though!

Would a lhd one work or is there a difference?

John, thanks for the info. As feared!

I must stress when I asked initially, I didn't mean free! Happy to pay of course.
