Wanted - FR Window Regulator XM 2

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Wanted - FR Window Regulator XM 2

Post by Andrem » Wed Dec 25, 2019 9:31 am

Hi Guys, after the above for my dad, he loves his XM and dont seem to be able to find one anywhere in NZ or new overseas.
Garage that removed it for him has lost the motor and the regulator is faulty so after a complete working regulator for drivers right hand side front.

Would be very greatful if anyone has one they would sell, or has any contacts where we can buy one new.

Hi Andre

I am afraid you need to research quite a bit more to be part specific.
Very important to get right if parts have to be posted to NZ.
Series 2 XM drivers side window regulators varied with model and age.

The low spec cars used the same drivers door regulators as Mk 1 cars.
The one touch switch motor control was provided by a small ECU screwed to the back of the door trim.

The higher spec cars (VSX & Exclusive) were fitted with the ECU (one touch & anti-pinch) built into the winder motor.
These assemblies had a high failure rate and were expensive from Citroen (£200+) so much demand for second hand items.
These assemblies had 9 wire connectors so the door wiring loom was unique to the assembly.

About 1996 Citroen made this much worse by changing the plug/socket type for the winder/loom connection.
Early ones have a thin box shaped metal locking clip, later ones a big red plastic PSA slide locking clip.
The importance of this difference is not well understood as pins and wiring are identical and either type can be forced together.
All works on test but there is now no locking to the connection just contact friction.
The plug hangs down under the motor and with wiring weight, time and vibration the connection falls apart.

Also note that all XM window winders are door specific so LHD parts will not fit RHD cars.
So in this case second hand spares from France will not fit UK cars.
Over here dealers clear out of old stock parts happened some years ago so sourcing new is not an option.
Get us enough information to be certain what is needed then we can see if good second hand parts can be found.
Alternatively we may be able to suggest work around options.

John
