Wheel arch liners and interior plastics

Selling off one (or bits :o) of your XM collection, or perhaps searching for those elusive headlight washer covers? This is the place to do it.

Hi

Not sure if I'm too late - and the parts I need don't really seem to match your descriptions - but here goes...

For my late S2, would you have (or perhaps know where I might get)

* the trim strip that runs along the base of the windscreen - on the inside, so really a component of the dash (black). Mine has cracked in half. Actually I'd take 2, as no doubt the replacement will break after a few years of our sun.

* Auto trans gear lever (plastic handle on mine is falling to pieces) - also black. Not sure if new plastic pieces can be installed on my gear stick, or whether total replacement is the best option

* a set of 4 x floor mats (black). Am currently using a set of Xantia mats from GSF - one day the Xantia might want it's mats back...

Cheers

Alec

Hi Alec. Look further in this forum there's a topic on the non available gear levers as we need some in the UK too..

Do you mean the bit where the blower air comes out onto the windscreen..? I'm not sure I've any S2 dash boards in and I think it's a different part to the S1 cars..

S1/S2 different, by the look of it, and not listed as a separate part from the main large dash fascia.

Yes that's the part. Just to confirm, is it one complete strip right across the front of the dash, or does it come in two halves (which is how mine is). In either case, mine is loose and vibrates, so something is wrong.

Supplementary question - can this part be removed/fitted without removing the windscreen?

Re. T-bar gear stick - I glued the plastic pieces back into place with silicon, and taped it up with electrical tape until the silicon hardened. Haven't been game to remove the electrical tape...

The demister vent can be removed from the dashboard skin after removal of the skin.
You need to remove the facia plastic, electrical connections and drop the steering column and footwell covers after that it can be removed.
I've only done it on Series 1, but think the S2 will be similar.

The gear lever rubber is polyurethane foam, so silicone probably wont work, but a suitable adhesive will.

Hmm - footwell covers I can do :). Anyway step 1 is to get a suitable replacement part.

I'll just leave the electrical tape on the gear lever handle then, until a suitable replacement is devised. I do like the idea of a timber hand grip!

They aren't listed as seperate however they are (on S1 at least) removable.. I think Jason down in oz has already removed one from his broken S1 dashs..

I'm yet to look more important and now desperate things to do first...
