Yes, it is still for sale and will be going for MOT this week.

Update on the XM - it was supposed be MOT’d today and I was hoping for a pass as there is nothing I could find which it might fail on. As I checked the fluids I noticed the coolant appeared dark. Having only recently flushed and refilled the system this could have only happened in the past few weeks (car has not been driven, just run up to temperature weekly). Unfortunately it seems that the oil cooler has ruptured/perforated which seems to be inevitable on the 2.5TD and is well documented here.

So, I need to bypass/block the cooler as many here have done, clean and flush the system again (fortunately I still have a can of liqui moly coolant system cleaner) and get it MOT’d. However, having recently moved and having no where to work on the car I don’t fancy doing this on the public road. So I’m offering the car up as it stands, without MOT and needing the oil cooler isolated and cooling system flushed. There’s a boot full of spares including a diesel injection pump, several headlights and various other bits. The car is really solid and as you’ll see from the post above has had lots of time and money spent on it. Obviously I’m not expecting anywhere near my original price, so if you’re interested, let me know.

Oh gosh, not the best time for the cooler to give way.
At least it's a well-known issue, and easily fixed without huge expense.
It's just the flushing clean that takes the time, but you've got a good cleaner there.

Most of the oil will accumulate in the expansion tank, so first block off the cooler (so no more engine oil gets injected), then fish out the floating oil repeatedly with some kitchen roll. Save the LiquiMoly cleaner for when oil stops appearing in the tank, so it doesn't have to cope with huge volumes of oil.

Just as aside, the recovered 2.5 expansion/header tank (from Eathan) arrived today, via family in UK.
Guess what? A nice residue of black engine oil inside!
Good to see the finest traditions of the otherwise excellent cooling system of the 2.5 still being upheld.

I should’ve been a bit more savvy and attended to it preventively before it went. Especially after reading about it here. You live and learn!

Excellent! It would have been a great shame if it had continued to sit outdoors, unused.
