This 2.0 16v Auto VSX is for sale by its pensioner owner who has got to the point of giving up driving it, and who would like it to go to someone who would appreciate it.
It has been maintained for years by Paul King, an independent Citroen specialist who some people on here may know formerly from Paris Autos in Stockport, now at Mercian Motors also in Stockport. I have gone to view the car and taken some pictures.
The upper body has no dents. There is almost no lacquer peel anywhere, just one small patch at the nearside rear corner of the roof. The paint is dull and has a variety of scratches on the driver’s door and along the offside. I think a professional standard polish could bring it up beautifully.
Front suspension strut tops are rust free on top at least. They are different from each other so at least one has been replaced.
Door bottoms and seams are free from rust. The driver’s door strap is broken.
I’ve seen the car up on a ramp. There's some oiliness under the engine but otherwise the car is free from fluid leaks. The main task is to attend to rust underneath the car, to clean it and apply underseal. The sills have been welded to the rear, and may need further attention there. The car has been inappropriately jacked under the sills and there is rust along the sill seam. That said, the sills seem solid. I suggest that dealing with the rust is more a case of preventative maintenance than cause to doubt the car.
The car has a current MOT, the tyres have little wear, the after market exhaust is new. Paul says the car drives beautifully.
No sunroof! The interior is in generally good condition, though a tidy and clean would spruce it up. The height control knob has been bodged.
To conclude, I’d say here is a car which is fundamentally sound, doesn’t any money spending on it before it can be used, which needs attention underneath to preserve it, and a good polish on top to make it look beautiful. It’d be well worth a look from anyone willing to attend to the car’s needs.
If you’re interested, call Paul King on 07843 188777.
P.S. I'll load some pictures up as fast as the system will let me
