John I take on board your thoughts on the front subframe. My point is that it must be rusted to hell for him to fail it which is weird when there's no mention of the usual suspects - cills, jacking points, floor rails, rear subframe. I would tend to think this car is a lot more solid underneath than some of our own.

Bloody hell, every garage around here does welding, although the quality varies wildly. The guy I use is so good you can hardly see the join, and the price is such that it's not worth learning to weld.xmexclusive wrote: Weld repair work in the southern part of the country is generally not easy to source and so expensive where available.
Many garages either refuse the work or are not permitted such work by their insurance companies.

Great, thanks John! I rang Andy, he was very helpful indeed. Unfortunately I couldn't drive over there today anymore, but I am planning to do soon. If I'll keep the car, that is. Again, if you know someone who might be interested, I'm up for that as well. The dilemma is still present as you can see.

Can someone please explain what is meant by " the Citroen Indy route", pardon my ignorance?

A Citroen Indy is a specialist in Citroen cars but has no association with the Citroen organisation.
Short for Citroen Independent.
Unlike Citroen owned dealers and Citroen franchised dealers the Indy's are not restricted to specific methods, parts or charges in repairing Citroen cars.
That freedom is particularly valuable in dealing with older models that Citroen no longer supports.
They are most likely to be former Citroen trained mechanics who have set up on their own.
Usually their limited overheads reduce their charges compared to franchised dealers.

Hi there,
There has been an update: I sold the car back to the previous owner. Yes, I lost a bit of money, but I also know the car is in good hands and will be repaired properly. Thank you all again for your support. It has been really helpful.
