Abuse of other members / spamming threads

Hi folks,
Its with regret that I have to make a post like this, however sadly circumstances have necessitated it, for the very first time since this site's inception.
We're all adults here, it’s a close-knit community of like-minded, knowledgeable, extremely helpful, accommodating individuals, we're all in this together, and I like to think that we're all friends.
Unfortunately though, it has come to our attention recently that some people have been taking it upon themselves to be abusive towards others members, deliberately spamming and disrupting threads, harassing people, and generally stirring things up.
To be completely clear, this kind of behaviour just will not be tolerated here. Members of this site put in countless hours posting valuable content, imparting vast knowledge and experience, and helping each other out, all in an effort to keep our favourite machines on the road.
They do not deserve to come here and read abusive crap, or be harassed and abused for their efforts.
Any deliberately abusive posts will be removed upon being spotted by a moderator, and the member in question will be issued a warning. If there are any further problems, the account will be banned for a period of time. Any issues after that, the ban will become permanent.
With particular reference to For Sale threads and the like, if you disagree with the price of something, don't like the item for sale, whatever, PM the seller and discuss it with them respectfully. Spamming the thread with disparaging comments or slagging off the seller / item is not on, and any such posts will be removed. No one is putting a gun to your head and making you buy a particular car / part at a particular price, so if you don't like it, simply don't reply to the thread, personal attacks are not necessary, and certainly not going to be tolerated.
Now don't get me wrong, we're not the Thought Police here, I'm not telling people how to act or what to say, but there are civil ways to disagree / debate matters with others without being abusive, that's all we're asking, be respectful to fellow members, even if you don't see eye to eye with them.
Here's hoping all of this is a momentary blip in the life of what is a very mellow, friendly, and relatively self-policing community. I really don't want to get to a situation where we're having to warn and ban people, that's just not what this place is about, adults shouldn't have to be supervised in my opinion.
Cheers
Ciarán
