Forum slowness and disrution the next few days

Post by Ciaran » Fri Dec 26, 2014 12:30 am

Hi guys,

I thought as it would probably be very quiet over the Christmas period, that I would do a few updates to the forum and hardware upgrades on the servers this afternoon to pass some time after dinner.

Well to cut a long story short, it was a total disaster and has resulted in the catastrophic death of the database machine
As a result, the database is now running on a temporary server which is a bit under-specced for the task, this might mean the site will experience periods of slowness over the next few days when the load gets high.

I will be building a new, more powerful database server and moving the database to this as soon as possible, there will be some further disruption as this is done but I'll try and minimise this as much as possible.

Sorry for any hassle and hope everyones having a nice Christmas break! :)
