Thanks guys, I'm just glad its back like all of you, I do miss it as well :)

I actually enjoy that kind of work, it's just unfortunate it took so long to sort everything out. I just discovered problems with one thing after another as I went along. The fact there was a bit of another IT meltdown (surprise surprise!) in my day job at the same time didn't help.

Over the coming months I'm going to move the webserver to newer hardware with faster disks, CPU etc, just to reduce the likelihood of failures on that side. I'm also looking at building a redundant server hosted somewhere else, which means if the primary one fails we can failover to the secondary machine and the site will continue to run until the primary server is brought back online.

Before that though we're due an update to the forum software itself to add some new features, will probably do that in the next few weeks.

For now, just glad to be back :D

Top stuff thanks Ciarán :)

I've noticed the speed alone was worth a few days of downtime :)

For an alternate backup are you looking at some log shipping method onto a slower but purely failover device? If so i can recommend a Synology NAS hosted somewhere as a failover unit for a webserver :)

Ciaran, I know very little about computing but I do have a surplus to requirements 4GB DDR 1333 strip that I have removed from a recently deceased PC. If it is of any use then it can be yours.
