Well, remove the ecu boost controller but leave it plugged in so the ecu can still see it, remove the pipe that goes to the black plastic inlet pipe and cap the fitting on the inlet pipe that is left, this is where all your precious boost is bled to, then order yourself one of These get a compressor and set it up so the valve is pushed open @11-12psi, then fit the valve back in place of the old ecu boost controller and go enjoy the TCT as it should of been sent out of the factory, eager and gutsy.

You wont be dissapointed Robert, after having a tweaked one the standard setup with that torque murdering ecu controller just doesnt make sense.

Just seen your post Mathew, yes the noise of a V is lovely 8-)
A dump valve should always be the re circ type, if not it will dump air out of the inlet the ecu has already allowed fuel for, hence the engine will run really rich after lift off, loosing power and bringing on an eml light as you say. They do not create more power, i fitted mine as i could hear compressor stall during wot gear changes, now the the boost comes on smoothly after gear changes and there are no chavy noises, other than the exhaust.

Interesting, Interesting.

How does it affect fuel economy?

So this chap here is replaced by the manual controller. Right, Right, Must be worth a try! :D :D :D Good job this thing is on LPG!

Now what about mechanical fuel pump diesels, is this any use here? Or something similar?

fuel economy is slightly improved against other tct's but then i have lots of other mods including the ability to use far more fuel too  the thing is you get more boost earlier on so it makes the drive a lot more relaxed.

That drawing is rather helpfull, remove and blank number 4 and put the controller inline with 5 and 6, its that simple, with lpg you should have the potential for some rather nice performance, longer lasting engine too!

It will work exactly the same for dervs too, i would only do it if they are intercooled though and not too sure what a hdi ecu would make of you messing with the boost settings, i think Xac is running something like 20psi on his 1.9 xant so have a chat with him about it.

I might have to have a play, and get a hold of one of thee boost controllers. At least it can be pulled out, and put back to spec if required.

Rubbish! They cost A bucket of pints to run in standard mode... god knows what upping it would make it do... 20 gallons to the mile probably..

I get better economy than quoted Paul, you see its nothing to do with increasing peak boost at all, the best bit about removing the standard controller is you get full boost at lower revs and consistantly through the rev range, dont forget the tct is designed to drive like a 2.2 petrol NOT to drive like a turbo so they use the ecu controller to give very low boost levels capping that boost even further at post 2500rpm to make it feel flat and un turbocharged but give Constant Torque levels, the fact it gives constantly no torque is neither here nor there.

I drove Jims Activa which is a stunning car, one of the best in the country i would say but its as flat as hell with no low down power, really sluggish, i was very surprised paul but modded! they drive so well you never use more than a tickle of throttle it just transforms the car honestly.
