I did that but found the outer two nuts seized due to water ingress into the crossmember. The subframe bolts undo OK but I'll have the rubber bearers off as well as iirc they are no longer available from Citroen.

They are listed on the S2 screen:

0000513175 JOINT SET 155,81 GBP 186,97 GBP 186,97 GBP

At this price I would hope that is a complete set for the whole rear subframe, with both pairs of front and rear mounts.

How do you get the auto gear selector handle off, it won't come off even after removing the screw low down.

I'm definitely having it off the car, just thought I needed the handle off first.

In case you didn't see my comment in Matthews thread, this car is rotten all the way, removed the ECU box yesterday to find the inner wing right through and the bumper support and wing tab to be none existent.

If you do want to remove the selector top, you need to push the button in and rotate it anti-clockwise I think, and it will lift up off. It will avoid it getting damaged in storage, or when you are removing the whole lot from the car.
