Nice, easy fix.
It's not uncommon for the receiver to fail, possibly due to water leaking in via the sunroof.

it's surprisingly dry inside of the light unit

certainly haven't had any leaks myself during a car wash and some pretty heavy rain

i was feeling really good about this car, but this has really knowed it back a bit
Get used to it, it's 30 years old, French, with worthless electrics and a complicated hydraulic system that powers everything that matters . . .

. . . and it's French!

What could possibly go wrong 🤔

Nice setting for a meet, is it Blyth?

Good to see you are using your Xm and that blue one looks really nice, the mid tone shows off the lines and detail, but yours being dark has the more sinister look.
Unsurprisingly the blue one has a dual electrics towbar, it was almost mandatory when they were new.
iirc, the Xm was Caravan Club towcar of the year due to the short rear overhang and hydractive suspension making for extremely stable towing.

Redcar in fact, rather nice setting for the meet

the car is still going well, over 1,000 miles covered now and i'm really liking it!

here's a thing, cigarette lighter is permanent live....any way to make it switched? got a dashcam and don't want to keep unplugging it

Take a 12v line from the Sunroof supply... ?.... it allows the DashCam to mount high on the screen out of the line of vision and gives it a better view.

good thinking

i was also considering seeing if i could wire the rear accesory socket to the electric arm rest as that's on a switched supply
