Filling through the reverse light switch hole was relatively easy, I suppose it took about 3 minutes for the oil to go in. I had a little silicone funnel which was a tight fit in the hole so I didn't need to hold it. Removing the air pipe to the throttle body allowed the oil to be poured from a jug at the level of the top of the battery, which was quite mess-free.

Not much point contacting Total, as I bought the oil about 2 years ago.
