Water pump will be luck Dean, its an external unit that sits between the banks, at around 300 from a dealer! Ive got a couple of used ones and one NEW one which im keeping for the 24v..

The inlet manifold inlet O rings might be a challenge too. David Hallworth got some for a 24v engine I put into the project car before... he might have a better idea, though the 12v ones may be different to the 24v ones.

Theres no gaskets for the Chain covers OR Rocker covers, its all sealent designed from a tube...

Was the starter motor heat sheild missing?? Ive got a couple of those about dean, Im sure. I dont chuck XM stuff of any kind!

Hi Dean,

It was interesting to see your update on the V6 project and a very good start certainly seems to have been made. I know what you are up against after my recent experience with these engines! One initial thought seeing the photos is that you should carefully check the condition of the steel water heating pipes in the 'V', which can badly corrode at the ends including the manifold branches and the seals are quite tricky to fit.

In response to your list of parts:

Heads skimmed - not strictly necessary unless the gaskets has failed, but certainly good to check.
Head bolt set - check the length as they can be reused, however a new set is only about £50.
Pair of head gaskets - are available individually from Citroen but quite expensive and cheaper on the bay - I have several spare genuine, but only one side!
Set of valve stem seals - never fitted these but should be readily available, or may come with a head set.
Cam seals - as above.
Crank seals - as above.
Torque converter input seal - as above.
Driveshaft seals - also available from Citroen and no doubt also elsewhere and definitely worth changing!
Inlet manifold seals? - mine came in a set with the head gaskets
Starter motor-ebay very cheap - I have had several bad experiences with cheap recon motors and now only buy Valeo and fitting is not that easy!
Heat shields for above - I may have a spare
ENGINE COVER - I have several spare with only minor and inconspicuous defects.
Icv - my advice is only buy genuine Citroen boots, or is it the actual joint you need?
Full gasket and stud set for exhaust - gasket sets can be obtained from BGA as with other seals, but possibly not the studs.
Stat - easily obtainable off the bay I would think.
Water pump? - not available new, but I can recommend a specialist to rebuild - again worth doing if you are any doubt about condition.
Rotor, dist cap and red plug leads - rotor arm and cap available on the bay but quite pricey and may come from Eastern Europe! Red plug leads will only be found on scrap cars and possibly I could help.
Distributer cover - only off scrap car.
Belt set - on the bay.

I hope that my response is helpful and please do let me know if any further assistance is required.

With regards,

Matthew T.

though the 12v ones may be different to the 24v ones.
As mentioned above I got mine in a set with other seals Paul and the two engines are the same I believe. With regards, Matthew T.

Thank you gents.

The water pump i have found, £82inc vat + shipping, mine feels good but it has corrosion around the shaft and i would prefer to sort it out with the re-build rather than have to go digging for it later.

The water pipes in the V are stunningly good, still painted black with the writing on in white print and the seal ends with 'O' rings are perfect as well.

This engine looks like it had a full service, new plugs, water pump, stat and housing, gear oil and then got pulled and has sat around.

Matthew, we my have to talk about a good engine cover, its the only reason im doing this whole project LOL!

Just stopped writting to go pull the timing gear cover if the pen spray had done its thing on the crank pulley, it had and it all looks really good in there.

Tensioners havent moved out and guides are good but given the cost i will stick new guides blocks in it anyway

Water return pipes, this is the rusty bit, the only rust, looks like this 95 engine had water pipes that were checked in march 1992?

The condition of the water pipes etc. is good news and will reflect age and low mileage I guess Dean, although it is the ends of the pipes that fail! I would double check that the pump is correct as they are a Citroen only part, unless you have been lucky and found some old stock. I refitted an old pump and the shaft seal then failed and the refurb cost around £100. On the chains only the guides wear and can be got new from Citroen. It seems there will be no problem obtaining the engine cover and leads! With regards, Matthew T. PS. don't forget to mark the chains and sprockets before removal!

On PRV V6 water pumps this may be an option Dean, although it does not look that similar to the original and I am not sure how the pulley works! It may be just the illustration is not correct!

Here are some gasket and chain guide leads Dean and also do remember to carefully check the engine-gearbox flex plate!! Regards, Matthew T.

I know it might be a bit late now Dean, but you could buy this for £1,900 and save yourself a lot of work!!
