Mk 2 estates, yes and no to the sunroof.
Most of the early estates did but by R reg a good number were supplied without.

Sounds like an excellent find!

It depends if its an earlier model or a later one, some were sat around for a while and somewhere between P and R they deleted sunroofs and gave them digi climate control.

Robert !
Just stick to 2.5 TD's (With the sealed hydraulic clutch system and cable actuated gear change) ;)

As I've stated many times in the past the 2.5 TD's Are for winner's (Surely John and I can't be wrong) ?

I have yet to drive a TD CX. I did drive a 2.5 N/A and it was nice, but very slow!

Good luck Cambell :)
Speaking of XMs in garages, HKV is now out of it's one and back on the road for the summer. Still going strong!

Fantastic.

I'm glad she's with a good home. If the estate is any good she will be a keeper. If you look at my Flickr pages you will be able to download pics of the green meanie.

I'm going to be seeing my mystery XM garage find tomorrow - are there any estate specific things I should be looking for - rust issues on the estate, for example?

And is there anything to check on an auto box - I have never driven an XM auto.

Rust, check everywhere, especially the back end where the subframe mounts onto the body.

Auto gearbox, all changes should be nice and smooth, both up and down changes. When on the move, floor it to get it to kick down.

First to second at around 15-18mph
Second to third at around 35mph - will change down at 33mph
Third to fourth at around 48-50 - will change down at 45mph.

Pull the dipstick out and smell the fluid, check that it doesn't smell burnt.
