Thanks Matthew.Yours is a nice one too. Mine looks better than it really is. There are quite a few dents and some lacquer peeling on top of the rear N/s door and wing. I have had the bonnet, front bumper, nosecone and caps above the rear quaterlights resprayed however, and it has been moped too. It is in desparate need of a good wash. I think the Sahara has dumped half of its sand over us!

The RP number is 5705. Which makes it 22 june 1992. Registered in Aug 92, bought in Hammersmith, lived most of it's life in London area. Number plate is EJD. I'll check the paint code as soon as i can. It's off tomorrow to have it's leak diagnosed.
I'll be up in Harrogate for the ICCCR if I can get the oil leak fixed...and it behaves till then! Love to meet up with some of you.
I have been helping with the Museum display for the ICCCR. Will also have a stall up there selling my artwork. If you all want something unique to do with XM's then seek me out! or take a look here - www.rjwcreativedesign.co.uk
All the best

It sounds like you are tidying the car up nicely Russ and although my sei is now in good shape, previously it had been street parked in London and was covered in small dents and scratches. My sei RP is 5806 (28/9/1992), although the car was not registered until 28/8/93 in Worcester (AB) and the paint code is ETC. My 1990 V6sei auto was supplied by Hammersmith Citroen. I will look out for you at the ICCR although I hope to take a V6 up there. With regards, Matthew T.

I'm doing my best with it. More to do.. ideally for the ICCCR, can't have it looking too scruffy! I'd love to see the V6sei and meet a fellow enthusiast Matthew. Hope to see you up there. Am I right in thinking your V6 is gold?....I intend to park mine with other Xm's during the day if there is such a thing. The first reg date was August too but 1992. Was yours sitting around on a dealer forecourt then i wonder?

An update on my oil leak. It's going back from where it came to have it's eninge out and seals replaced. We think it's the Crankshaft seal. Fortunately it is under warranty.

Now because Xm's are organic living machines and they do what they want, am I right in thinking that the dash lights shouldn't be on even if the headlights are off like mine are. Odd one that...any ideas?

Russ

Dashboard illumination is permanently on with ignition. be careful to not get caught out without lights on at night, take note of the sidelights tell-tale.

My 2.0sei was supplied by a dealer in Malvern Russ, although the first owner was Toshiba International in Middlesex, so perhaps one of their Directors lived up that way!! As you say, it must have either sat around with a dealer, or in France I suppose. I am indeed fortunate to own a V6sei in gold which I hope to take to ICCCR, possibly with the 24v, so definitely see you there. Hope you get the oil leak fixed and as confirmed by Will the instrument lights are indeed permanently on, which is why most of the (9?) bulbs have usually popped! The series two cars had white dials! With regards, Matthew T.

Thanks guys for that illuminating (groan) piece of information regarding the dash lights. I had no idea they did that. And I call myself an XM enthusiast! All dash bulbs work fine by the way. They were replaced as part of sale.

Car is off soon to be fixed. I have stressed that it must be ready for the ICCCR. So see you up there Matthew.

I think you are right Norman, a change was made with the series 2 cars, which had the lighter coloured dials instead. Regards, Matthew T.

Hi Folks......Update on my oil leak, It has gone off today to be plugged. Going to have some other things looked at too... mainly electrical, typically!
It's temporary replacement is now a P reg dark green MK2 SX 2.1 auto hatch. My first drive of a MK2. It seemed quieter and a little more refined than my mk1.5 SED. But it didn't feel to dissimilar to mine fortunately in the way it drove, good news in that respect. It has a better behaved fuel gauge, which helped too!
So get the SED back in a week and hopefully it will be back to it's old self.
One thing I did notice on the MK2, which has been well documented, is how much better the wing mirrors are. But I didn't realize the passenger one is slightly offset....by that I mean further away from the A pillar than the drivers side. So thats how they did it....
Anyway enough rambling
All the best
Russ

I was driving the temporary XM past the Cricket festival today and an early Xantia driver took a very long look driving past. Maybe it was the dents!
