That's awful Russ. There is an awful lot of damage there, the damage to the rear wing area could mask a lot of structural stuff. Multiple vehicle collisions too, horrible mess to sort for insurance and everything.

Your stiff neck might get more of a payout than the car, looking on the bright side, but I'd be blubbing if that was one of mine.

Absolutely gutting Russ :( glad everyone is near enough in working order still.

Let's hope the claim process is sensible and professional.

I think Charles, it is hiding a lot. The rear quaterlight windows have pushed up, the rear seat is wedged in place and the doors are so jammed shut it would take jaws of life to probably to open them.. Lots of deformation basically. I have a wooden table in the boot that is wedged inside. Can't get it out!

Jaap, no. Don't be silly!

Sorry to hear about this, the main thing is nobody was badly hurt.

I don't think it will be repairable but please do try and break it if you can, be such a shame if all the useful spares were lost.

Maybe you could keep the running gear and acquire a car with gearbox or head gasket failure?

Sorry to see the pictures Russ.

I agree, it's likely to be a total loss as far as the insurance are concerned. It'll be a Cat C though, not Cat B. That's what my money is on at least!

If the back doors won't shut and seeing the bulges in the rear wings I don't think it'd be feasible to repair that unfortunately. I'd certainly be buying it back from the insurance company and taking any of the good bits off it!

May she rest in saleable parts and good luck with the insurance and the hunt for a new XM

That is my plan Jonathon, it will be my parts car. The engine especially the fuel pump are too good to chuck. I am intent on keeping it regardless and will be broken for parts gutting to think this, but it's practical.

Quite agree David. But the doors won't open let alone close... That's the scary thing.
The rear subframe mounts in the boot, I think they are, are all twisted up.

Parts car, that's for sure....

Thanks Dean. I will get those ads. Great. Just what I need. There's also the PC article.. :D

We should all advertise a 2.1 SED on eBay for something in the region of £3k then you can say there's any number to choose from but that's what it's going to cost!

The creasing on the rear arches say it all. It needs jigging - at the very least - and even then there's no guarantee all will be well.

Not good Russ. Sorry to hear it.
