Re: Russ's 2.1 SED Auto
Well I excercised the sunroof this afternoon. Sprayed some grease in the bits that matter. I couldn't quite see the cables however, must be the light. Anyway it was getting there with more use.
And because the sun kept shining I thought I'd feed the decidedly dried out black trim. Surprising what the wettest winter on record can do to them!

Re: Russ's 2.1 SED Auto

Amazing day for playing Cars. Did you pop down to Somerset in the new V6?...
You won't be at all jealous when us sunroof users have them fail and leak..as many already are.

Bloody clock has packed up.
Bulbs I hope.
And can't get it into full height. Linkage must be crusty. Grumble grumble grumble!

It's an XM Russ...russ92xmsed wrote:Bloody clock has packed up.Bulbs I hope.

Can you see the digits on the clock faintly under some lighting conditions, such as sunshine almost directly but more sideways onto the display?
If so then it'll just be the bulb. I had this with the climate display on mine. Fine one moment and next start it was dark and unreadable. Bulb had popped...
Will she rise fully if given a bit of rev Russ.. I used to notice with my prestige she'd never rise fully just idling and eeded a bit of rev to do it...

Re: Russ's 2.1 SED Auto
Hi Jim...don't I know. At the mo it seems I fix one thing and, it on purpose, throws me another!
The clock has been working great, but I think has started to fade recently...so possibly bulbs or battery???. It was completely black yesterday. I'm off out to investigate in a mo to see if I can see anything in there!
The suspension thing is to do with the linakge. Well it still needs revs to get the front up.....but I simply cannot get the selector into full height. It's worked great all the time i've had it. So i think it has seized or got a bit rusty and got stuck...well won't engage anyway. I can get it to the intermediate setting above normal ride height. Again i'm off to play.
I think I need to change the battery terminals too.... they are still the old lead ones, and they look a bit rubbish to tell you the truth. I've read that Will and Vince have both done theirs and had improvements.
Anyway sun is shining. I'm off to tinker!!

Re: Russ's 2.1 SED Auto
Right, update so far.....
Suspension fixed.
Last month I remember fixing the ashtray lid and in doing so also lifted out the centre consul panel. So my first port of call was there. And essentially the black rubber gaiter was stopping it engaging. It had slipped out of its guides. So back in and works a treat.
Clock is dead as a dodo.
I will do the bulbs this afternoon. Annoying as this is the third time the dash has to come apart.
But the real sting in the tail, is what I found this morning.
I had to move the car forward for a neighbour yesterday, and in doing so revealed a lovely pool of oily liquid, and quite large. I brushed it off as water mixing with the oil in the sills, and as it rose...back first,.... it poured it out onto the road. However this morning, I checked behind the passenger front wheel and a little pool of oil was present.
About a 4x4 cm. So it looks as though it has decided to have a secret wee somewhere..
I drove a short distance to get the tyres some air. Absolutely nothing to report gearbox wise, brakes or suspension. All as normal. No grinding or metallic noises. And where it is parked now, no drips and no puddles. However it is oily...So I am wondering this. Has a CV gaiter split maybe ?. Only I have noticed the steering becoming a little vague at times. By that I mean some play in it.
Pics below. Sorry, i'm not great at diagnosing things like this!
I'll also post in the relevant section too.
STOP PRESS>>>I HAVE JUST NOTICED THE GREEN DRIP ABOVE THE DRIVESHAFT ON PICTURE 1 & 2.. TOP LEFT HAND CORNER.
MMMMMMM.

Re: Russ's 2.1 SED Auto
More pics. It is now a Hydraulic problem. Possibly Fluid return hose. But not sure..any one any ideas? Out of my depth on this one!...no change there then....
I checked the LHM levels and it was low...on the bottom red ring infact....not surprising really. Topped it up so should be okay for a little while. But this needs sorting out ASAP.

More pics in the Hydraulic section. can't be bothered to do the clocks today. I'm miffed!
