Sorry Russ. I will be using good old fashioned Waxoyl underseal (the black stuff) applied with a Schutz gun.

I have not had good experience with the black Waxoil Rob and much prefer the clear type that seems more lasting. On the Poland car I applied generous coatings of black to subframes and sills etc. and the material is now dry and flaky with more rust showing underneath, whereas the clear seems to remain slightly moist. Another person I know got a similar result. Regards, Matthew T.

I used it on my kit car and 6 years later all is good. Maybe I have been lucky. I have never been a fan of Waxoyl products (bilt hamner are my product of choice) but the Waxoyl under seal has always worked for me.

Interesting. I use the waxoyl underseal too. I have a massive can of it and apply thickly, usually with a brush. I do have the spray can too, which is okay. It seems fine and I haven't had any cracking or flaking either. That's both XM's as well.

I find Waxoyl is a great assembly paste between joints like subframe mounts etc and ive got some on the boot floor externally that is nearly 7 years old and still tacky and keeping the rust under control

Stone chip on the other hand can be difficult, i had a can that just flaked off and i had to use thinners to remove the lot and start all over again, the others were fine and took perfectly on the underbody, much cleaner to work around to, waxoyl does tend to leave you stuck to the bottom of the car like a house fly on fly paper every time you venture under there, great at killing rust though.

Well a good days work.

Both spheres came off a charm :) Clout with lump hammer and then off with the sphere removal tool. The front one was dated June 2005 and the rear was undated but had a Citroen number on.

The exhaust on the other hand was a total git! The most expensive part had a silencer far bigger than the one that came off. A very tight fit. After a right old tussle I got it all together. Fired her up and no blows or rattles.

While I had everyting off I got the schutz gun out and applied a good coat of underseal.

The drive home was brilliant, the new spheres have transformed the ride. She now has her 'float' back:) :) :)

Photos to follow.

As promised some photos and a word of warning:

Do not buy this Klarius exhaust, it is cheap for a reason: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141677940844? ... EBIDX%3AIT" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;"

As you can see from the photos the silencer is too wide. I did get it jammed in and it doesn't seem to vibrate but best avoided. Plus it was a total pig to fit.

Both the spheres came out a treat despite all the horror stories.
