Chris and I meet up The Hawk near to Thruxton race track in Hampshire.

Highly recommend the pub.

Great evening and lovely to meet Chris.

We certainly stole the show in the carpark so that even the waitress commented on why both had the same car!!!!

Well, it's back to the future.

After a few weeks off following my knee surgery it was back to the garage last night for a bit of XM fettling.

The new intermediate exhaust pipe is too big for the car so I have welded up the old BOSAL unit and will refit it on Saturday. I am hoping this will cure the nasty resonance the car showed last time I drove her.

I am looking to do a refurb over the winter months. Hopefully facilitated by a new scissor lift to protect my dodgy knees.

A couple of winter runs before I lay her up in January:

21 December: Ace Cafe
27 December : CCC SW branch run across Salisbury Plain to Imber village

This will ensure the car is really filthy!!!

Looks like a major pressure washing session before I start stripping stuff in January.

Exhaust changed. Resonance cured.

Quick test drive round the village and all good

The roads around Wiltshire are filthy and this does not mix well with a white XM! I will give her a good clean inside and out.

Picking her up on Sunday ready for the ACE cafe run on Monday evening.

I will try to get some photos.

Ummm. Strike the comment on the resonance

There is a rather unpleasant drone at around 70mph

so my trip to work, London and back tomorrow may require a few extra notches on the stereo!

I also seem to have loosened a baffle which rattles horribly at start up but improves with warmth.

The jobs for January just keep stacking up.

On a brighter note the Speedline alloys/spare and all the bolts are off to Marc on Wednesday.

Let's hope there are four decent tyres in my stash of steelies!!!

Managed to get the car stuck in a very boggy carpark today

The whole episode videoed by my daughter and posted on Facebook, children

I have now washed and vacuumed her ready for tomorrow. The forecast is horrible so she will probably be filthy by the time we get to the ACE cafe but at least we started off clean and white!!!
