Ive got a merc mag which compares a 123 with a124 and other then the 124 being a bit more passenger spacious over the 123 and a turbo on the derv engines theres little between them

I got the numbers mixed up.. im blinkered with 123s ....

RHD W124d don't get turbo's.

W123 and W124 are completely different cars in all aspects and parts, even underneath. W123 rust a lot more though, but W124 aren't immune.

The W123 cars are getting expensive, particularly for diesel estates. I was tempted with a well worn but salvagable w123 300D on ebay, but in the event it went for ITRO £1250 which is far more than I would consider paying for anything without tax and test.

W123, 300D are not a nice drive really. The engine is the old cast iron lump and slow. Any W123 without MOT will be rotten.

I wasn't so worried about the rust, more the dreadful economy...

Anyway, enough of W123 and W124 motors...

MORE progress today, thank god.. Got the Off side welding all finished today!!









So all welding done except for the rear exhaust hanger, there isn't one, so need to fabricate something for that...

Crank seal came today aswell.. so that can go in tomorrow I HOPE and get the belt back on..

Then oil and filter change.. and we are 80% done..
