Hi eduFX

Thank you for posting the photograph record of work on your XM.
The photographs will help many of us in the future.
I was particularly interested in the last photos you posted comparing worn and new strut heads.
There seems to be a design difference with the new strut head.
Do you know the Citroen part numbers for the new strut heads you have?
Did you have to fit different rubber gaiters?

I think the apparent difference is just down to the old one having made a bid for freedom, so the protruding rubber is shorter.

While on that note. Does anyone have some ruined strut tops that could be used to fully investigate remanufacture of new ones? They might need to be completely destroyed to gain accurate measurements.

Yes, thanks a lot, they clearly show the construction.

It appears the lower plate and inner cone are bonded together than the cap is fitted and the inner cone then expanded to lock it in place.

Hi Dieselman

In the photo I roughly scaled the base rings that hold the gaiter in place.
The new one measures about 15% larger diameter than the old.
I realise that despite being in the same photo the lense may give different magnification but I would like to know if the actual dimensions are different.
