That's just salt from wintertime...

I don't think it's the matrix Russ. If it's salty but not sticky it rules it out somewhat. That's got to be good.

I'll have an open door carpet tasting at CXM!! it is a fine vintage....21 years old and slight hint of musky caves with a salty after taste. Yummy!

You might be right Jim, it could be something else....need to see after long drive I suppose. Don't fancy having the heater on in this humid weather mind you...

Little update on my headlights. Soooooo much brighter. I moved the car last night from the church into the road and had a good look, what with the daylight fading. I would have done this sooner but weather and things got in the way from testing them properly. Will take some pics when it is darker for better effect, so you can see. Annoyingly I got too carried away and didn't take any of the old ones lit up for comparison. But can tell you they were candles in jam jars.
The treated lenses pretty much go clear with the lights on. As I have said, they still look slightly yellow from every angle except straight through them with lights off. So I cannot see much interference from them at all. So I am happy this idea of mine has worked.

I will try another experiment with my other lenses from the original lights and see what happens.

On my cars, one has more worn reflectors, but washed, one has better reflectors but not washed out.

The cleaned ones are noticeably better.

Wonder how it would be if you get rid of those plastic glasses though.
