How are you going to get it onto a trailer?

Steel only price, whats that per tonne? I would have guessed you just get a light steel price for it.

You get more per tonne for steel than for a car as that is contaminated.

I have been thinking about how to get it onto the trailer, I am using a flat trailer and will jack the car up high, reverse under it then spin it round before dropping the towbar off.

That's the theory anyway.

It was always going to be lighter after removing the engine and gearbox, and other wanted stuff like suspension struts and tops.

Is it just a bare steel shell then? No plastic or insulating material in it at all?

I am pleased to report that the engine is now completely refitted in the car and starts and ticks over very nicely!! There are no signs of any leaks to oil or water as yet and as you can imagine I am immensely relieved. I still have to refit the nose and drive shafts, which should be possible in the next week-ten days. The remainder of the assembly went quite smoothly and the only problems I encountered after starting were a poorly seated injector leaking petrol and the engine ran a little erratically, until I realised that I had not connected the map sensor breather pipe to the engine casing. I had also forgotten to fully tighten the supply pipe from the hydraulic pump, which was slightly weeping, but nothing significant really, considering all that was involved. Regards, Matthew T.

Having got the engine fitted and now running well I note there is still quite a lot of emulsion in the engine from the filler cap underside. Obviously I have changed the oil, but does anyone recommend a flushing oil, or should I just use the car for a bit and do another change in due course? With regards, Matthew T.

I would take her for a long drive, let it get nice and hot for a while and then change the oil when you get back, most petrols will get a bit of emulsion in the breathers when just idling and doing short trips in this weather but that clears up after a long run.

As Dean said, if there is new oil and the emulsion is only in the breather pipes then just drive it to get it hot and any water in there evaporated.
