Ahh Volvo - now you're definitely in my territory. Just a matter of figuring out which box I want.

The amount of those Merc E classes around here with frilly edges is frightening. Even seen an S Class W220 with nasty scabs all over it.
S60 saloon is a Volvo favourite of mine.
Going back to your experiment Dean, I think it looks good. I certainly would be interesting in doing this. Especially the centre door shut lines. Be very interested in how you get on.

I have recently been looking at wind noise on mine. It seemed to be noisy around the A pillars, but the seals, at first sight look good. The outer seals (the windscreen surround) are still quite pliable but have deformed to the shape imposed by the door. I concluded that at speed (130 km/h around here) the air pressure deforms the rubber a little more, opening up a gap.
I have put some 15mm wide x 5mm thick draft foam behind the rubber seal to increase the tension against the door frame, and I think that it has helped, but have only driven the car briefly since.

I'm afraid I'm copying Dean, I have ordered some!
I don't think I will be so thorough though.

In the S1 V624v any wind noise is helpfully masked by the throb of the engine! With regards, Matthew T.

The 12v is better suited to the Xm character, the 24v should of been shoe horned into a zx to make the ultimate loony hot hatch, anyway.
On the whole its worked well but
A- I wouldn't bother with the wing to front door joints
B- you need bigger seal to do the sill to door bottom gap and I think this is worth doing
C- there is much less noise from the windscreen base / dash area and I can only put that down to the bonnet shuts, or scuttle wing mirror case joint?
Overal a good mod for a few £, looks like it will keep the crud out of the door shuts too.
Shall be driving back down the A27 in a moment, mmmm bank holiday traffic.....

I would love to see that. Rear mounted for extra madness. 24v V6 in a BX would have been interesting too. It's a bit like the SM.. You don't expect that kind of engine note in an XM. Almost out of character, but I have to admit I like it!
Anyway... I think I'm going to do the doors and the bonnet gap to nose cone first and see how it goes. Point taken about the wing front door joint.
It's very good value for money.

Over the weekend i took the opotunity to replace the Governor on my auto box, over the last few months it had started shifting pointlessly under light throttle between 3rd and 4th, following an upshift to 4th it would then jump back to third before going straight back into 4th. This would happen very, very rarely but i had an idea it wasnt well as the 2-3 shift would hold untill 2800rpm when the box got hot.
After some faffing and initially fitting a tct governor that had new seals i swapped these new seals onto a spare, pre cleaned govenor from an identical gearbox and fitted it, the test drive reveals an improvement not in shift quality but at the points at which the box shifts, it reacts a little nicer to half throttle downshifts and so far there is no hopping around between 3rd and 4th.
photo's are scarce as i did start with good intentions but then got stuck in and forgot to actually take any but there was a satisfactory outcome anyway.
The seals on the governor didnt actually look bad, no nicks or splits, they were a little hard but nothing obvious.
